The Client: A multinational karate organisation with 10,000s of students across the globe

The Project: Design and build the organisation’s eCommerce websites for the Australian, UK and New Zealand markets

Disciplines: Web development, UX, Design

The Australian-headquartered karate club approached us to build an eCommerce platform that could handle the sale of merchandise, event tickets, competition entries and training passes.

With three sites offering a very similar range of products and services, we opted to build the site as a WordPress multisite installation. This had a number of benefits to the client, including a single sign on to access all sites, a consistency of UX for the Shop Managers and greatly reduced hosting costs.

The multisite set up also allowed us to create additional sites with the same features and functionality to cope with additional projects on demand. This included a public-facing site to handle ticket sales and entry for organisation’s World Cup and a closed site for remote employees to order stock and merchandise for sale in classes.

The sites generate an annual revenue well in excess of £1 million and have dramatically cut the back end administration required for the organisation.

What the client thought

“Right from the start we’ve had an excellent relationship with Workshop Marketing. What we appreciated most about working with Toby and the team was their ability to cut through the predictable politics of a project, keep everyone happy, deliver the expected results and then some.”

Simon Kane, National Administration Manager, GKR Karate
